Strategies for Locating Primary Sources

There are many kinds of primary source material and many ways to get at them.  It all depends on who, what, when and where your topic occurred.

First, try University of Dayton Libraries' online catalog. Find a primary source document in the library collection with a keyword search using your topic and the words listed below in the online catalog.

Keywords:  Oral history, manuscripts, diaries, letters, etc.

Also look for the following subject subheadings: Directories, Statistics, Newspapers, Periodicals, Church records and registers, Registers of births, Marriage records, Pictorial works, Sources, Genealogy, Correspondence
