ISDA Student Employee Guide

This guide is designed for students working for the Information Systems and Digital Access (ISDA) team in the University Libraries. It includes guidance on specific technologies, troubleshooting, and basic information about working in the library

Portable Public Address (PA) System

We have a portable PA system which includes a mixer, microphones, and two speakers. This system can be used when needing to provide a microphone and audio in spaces where there is not integrated wireless microphone and speakers.

The PA system is stored in the closet inside the Rose Gallery. This is a locked closet requiring a key. Ask ISDA or Access Services if you are in need of a key to the closet. Wired microphones, mic stands and cables are stored in the closet on the 2nd floor near the Gathering Place. This closet requires card access for entry.

To set up the PA system, simply lift up on the two top latches to release the two speakers. These can be placed on opposite ends of the room to provide good coverage, but be sure to avoid positioning the microphone in front of the speakers, as this may result in audible feedback. If possible, position the speakers on an elevated surface for best results.
