One of the more common scenarios we support in the library is troubleshooting issues with projectors or presentation hardware. Room 215, the Gathering Place, and the Collab contain projectors with integrated Creston panels designed to control display and sound.
Audio is not playing through the speakers
In Room 215, one of the most common reasons for this is an issue that arises after users are connecting HDMI devices to the podium. One common solution is to toggle back and forth between HDMI and PC on the touch panel. This tends to resolve the issue.
UPDATE: A ticket opened with UDit in August 2022 may have resolved this issue, but we will keep it here in case it proves useful in the future.
Monitor not displaying content from computer
- First ensure that the monitor is on - press the Power button on the touch panel
- Ensure that the computer is turned on. It is located on the bottom shelf of the podium, and sometimes students will manually turn it off.
- Touch the PC or HDMI button, depending on the source of the video.
- Touch the Power button to make sure power is on.
- If nothing is working, try turning off power to the entire unit. Wait 60 seconds and then turn it all back on. It will take a couple minutes for everything to come back online.
- If this fails, contact a member of ISDA for assistance. If no ISDA members are available, open a high priority ticket with the IT Service Center.
Keyboard and/or mouse not responding
- Room 215 uses a wireless keyboard and mouse. Be sure that the power switches for both are switched to “On”.
- Check to make sure that the wireless receiver is securely plugged into the USB port on the podium (the receiver is very small)
- Replace batteries in the device if all other steps have failed. There are usually AA and AAA batteries available in the tall cabinet in the EID offices between Heidi and Katy’s offices.
