Playing Music through Library Sound System

There are four locations in the library that can project sound through speakers in the ceiling:

  • Lobby
  • Rose Gallery
  • North Stairwell
  • Concourse D

The most common use case for this is to play music through the speakers during special events or special occasions during the year.

The source of the music and the destination for the sound is controlled within the tech closet on the 2nd floor. To play music through these speakers:

  1. Connect a device to one of the Audio In ports on the wall inside the 2nd floor tech closet. These inputs require a 3.5mm connector so if you are connecting an iPhone or iPad, you will need an adaptor. Adaptors are available in the drawer at the bottom of the equipment rack in the same closet.

  2. On the equipment rack, click Advanced Controls on the touch panel Screenshot of Crestron touch panel

  3. Select the appropriate Wall Plate (Wall Plate 1 or Wall Plate 2) where the device is connected. Screenshot of a Crestron touch panel showing options for audio destination

  4. Select the audio destination for the sound. The options are Stairwell, Lobby, Gallery, Concourse D

The volume for each space is controlled by separate dials in each location:

  • Stairwell - dial is located inside a locked box inside the stairwell
  • Lobby - dial is located in the back office behind the Hello Desk
  • Gallery - dial is located inside the tech closet. Touch Control Source and then adjust the dial.
  • Concourse D - dial is located inside a locked box mounted on the wall near the Story Studio
