Save & Cite in UDiscover

Udiscover primo pin icon As you search, remember to save what you find. UDiscover uses a pin icon as an option to save searches and individual results. Make sure to sign in using your UD username and password to automatically save your search history. Being signed in will also save any items you pin for future sessions.


Saving Individual Results

You can save individual search results by selecting the pin icon located to the right of individual search result titles (as seen in the screenshot below).

If signed in to your UDiscover account, your pinned items will save to your account under the "My Favorites" section; if not signed in, they will also go to the "My Favorites" section, but only last as long as your session. To access the "My Favorites" section, select the dropdown menu in the upper-right corner of the screen (as shown in the screenshot below).

Saving a Search

You can save a search for future use. Please note: unlike with saving individual search results, you must be signed in to your UDiscover account to save your search. Once signed in, at the top of the list of search results, you will see an option to "Save query" at the top of the search results (as shown in the screenshot below).

Saved searches are available in the "My Favorites" section accessible from the upper-right dropdown menu. Within the "My Favorites" page you will find a "saved searches" tab. Both steps are pictured in the screenshots below.

How to Cite Items Found in UDiscover

Locate the "Citation" link (with the accompanying quotation icon) in the "Send to" section of an article or book, or within the list of search results. Select your preferred citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago) and click the red button labeled "Copy Citation to Clipboard."

Make sure to check the citation with another source, as identified in our citation guide, before using. Automatically generated citations often contain small errors!


Save Your Search Terms in a Word Document!

Save your search in a document, export your results to a citation management software (Endnote, Zotero, etc.), and always remember to sign in when using UDiscover.

  • By saving your search, your strategy will be reproducible for another time and properly documented.
