By default, UDiscover search results will only include items in UD's collections. If you wish to broaden your search beyond our physical and electronic holdings, you can select the option to "Didn't find what you were looking for? Click here to expand your search" at the top of the search results list (see screenshot below).
This will bring in all available content related to your search. Any items that fall outside of UD's collections will provide a "Get it for me from other libraries" link within the brief description of the item:
Selecting the "Get it for me from other libraries" links will typically point you to a "Get It" link where you can submit a free request. Learn more about this service.
In addition to interlibrary loan links, for journal articles and book chapters there will often be an option to "Search via Google Scholar." This provides a way to check whether or not an item is available for free on the public web. Look for links within Google Scholar labeled [html] or [pdf]. We recommend that you try Google Scholar before submitting a loan request.
If your search does not retrieve the individual title you are trying to locate, you have a couple options within UDiscover:
If your search does not find the result(s) you are looking for, then you have the option to send a request. To do so, make sure you are signed in to UDiscover. Once signed in, select the link titled "Still didn't find what you need? Click here to send a request", as shown in the screenshot below. This will open a form where you can submit a request. Once received, our staff will process the request and reach out with any questions.
Citation Linker is a tool that helps you locate the full text of a specific article when you already have a citation (or at least some citation details, like the article title, journal name, author, and/or publication date). The Citation Linker searches through a central index of publications and will typically retrieve a record for the title (regardless of whether or not the library has immediate access to it). From this record you can submit a free request or directly link to the content. To use it, do the following:
UDiscover provides an option to send your search directly to Google Scholar by clicking the link on the left side of the screen, under the "Refine Your Results" section (circled in the screenshot below).
