Librarians can help you get started on a research project, brainstorm and refine topic ideas, find and incorporate reliable sources of information, organize your research, and build strategies for finding information and data of all kinds.
There are several ways to get help! You can send questions through chat and email, make an appointment to meet with a librarian 1-1 or in groups, stop by the Information Point or Hello Desk on the first floor of the library, and text or call for assistance.
Librarians show you where to find style guides and citation formats, but when you need help with your writing and proofreading we recommend visiting The Write Place.
You can make an appointment with a librarian online using our Book a Librarian service. It’s easy, free, and takes less than a minute. Select your class or subject and a date, time and meeting preference for your appointment (in person, Zoom or phone). You’ll receive a confirmation email and calendar invitation for your appointment.
You can meet with any of our librarians for help! Students working on projects for business classes often choose to meet with the business liaison librarian, but you can also use General Research Support to schedule an appointment for help with research in any of your classes, regardless of the subject.
Library appointments are typically available on weekdays during the academic year. You can almost always meet with a librarian within 2 days. General Research Support appointments are offered five days a week when the library is open, and appointments for specific subjects are available based on each librarian's schedule.
You can reserve a room online using the Reserve a Space link on the Libraries' website or by scanning the QR code on the door of the space you're interested in.
My office is room 112 in Roesch Library. You can drop in any time my door is open!
You can access all of the online library tools from the Libraries website - and there are a lot!
You can search for articles, books, news, and other kinds of information right from the main page of the library website! The search field on this page is called UDiscover, and it is a starting place to search the UD catalog, the online resources available through the University Libraries, and resources you can access from other libraries throughout Ohio.
You can get free access to WSJ Online and NYT Online (including the news apps) with your UD email address. The links below have instructions for setting up your subscriptions.
Your UD ID card is also your library card. You can check out books using the self-service kiosk near the Hello Desk in Roesch Library or at the Hello Desk.
