Story Studio

The Story Studio is a dedicated space for media creation in the library. A streamlined, self-service recording studio, editing stations, and specialized kits offer tools to help you create your next media project in the studio or out in the field.

What is the Recording Studio

Located on the second floor of Roesch Library, the recording studio is a streamlined media production studio for recording video projects. All you need is a USB flash drive to get started.

Don't know how to set up cameras, lights, touch screens, or microphones for video? Don't worry. The recording studio will handle that automatically so you can focus on creating a compelling media project.

The video camera records in 720p (High Definition), not 1080p (Full Definition). This helps minimize the file size copied to your USB.

Make a Reservation

Make a reservation in the library's online reservation system. The Story Studio's recording studio and editing stations can be reserved in two hour blocks.

You will receive an email confirming the date and time of your session. When you arrive for your session, check in with a member of the Hello Desk in the 1st Floor Lobby of Roesch Library and let them know you are here for your reservation. They will swipe you into the recording studio.

Here's how you can prepare for a successful session in the recording studio:

  • Bring a USB flash drive. You will need this to save your video recording.
  • Write a script. Think about what you would like to say in advance. You don't have to get it perfect the first time, but you should prepare a script or notes in advance so that your message is clear.
