University journals and faculty-submitted scholarship can be found in eCommons, along with digitized resources from the U.S. Catholic Special Collection, Marian Library, and University Archives.
Streaming video is also available through Kanopy, Swank, and other services.
The UD Libraries are here to support students in online and hybrid Religious Studies programs. Interlibrary loan (ILL), OhioLINK, and ebook acquisitions are options for remote students for access to print materials in the UD Libraries' collections and beyond.
Print materials in Roesch Library and at other universities that participate in the OhioLINK consortium can be picked up at any participating institution (check the list or view a map here). Detailed instructions for borrowing below come from the Catalog and Online Borrowing FAQ:
Find the desired book or item in the OhioLINK Central Catalog. The system looks for an available copy and selects a lending library.
Click REQUEST THIS ITEM.
Select the University of Dayton as your institution.
Fill in your name and UD ID number.
Select where you want to pick up the item. You can pick up the item at any participating OhioLINK library that is convenient.
The system validates the request and sends the request to the lending library.
The item will be delivered within several weekdays to the pickup location you requested.
Some schools send a courtesy email notification when the item is ready to pick up
To request print books in Roesch or the Marian Library for local delivery, or scans of articles and book chapters, students should use their local library to make an interlibrary loan request to the University of Dayton Libraries Students should note that they are a remote/online UD student in the request. Please note it may take several weeks for books to arrive depending on shipping times and local processing, although electronic scans of articles and chapters typically take less time.
If an ILL request isn't possible or a book is needed sooner than shipping allows, please contact Henry Handley, the collections liaison librarian for Religious Studies about ebook alternatives. If no other options are available, the Libraries may lend circulating books to UD students by mail with a prepaid return envelope as a last resort.
