Industry Designation Codes
Library databases and public sources of information are often searched using industry designation codes. Common standards used in U.S. and international industry analysis include NAICS, GICS, and ICB.
Identifying NAICS codes is a helpful first step in industry analysis. The numeric code and the industry names and descriptions are important search terms for finding relevant information.
