Digital Storytelling

What are StoryMaps?

StoryMaps are digital storytelling tools for creating interactive narratives. Learners and researchers in humanities, social sciences, and science fields create StoryMaps to create galleries and sites that share information through multimedia, text, mapping, and timelines. With StoryMaps, questions and information can be approached, synthesized, and expressed through technology in ways that extend knowledge and make it accessible to new audiences.

Recommended Tool: ArcGIS StoryMaps

ArcGIS StoryMaps is the 'official' StoryMaps tool for combining maps, timelines, visual media, and text in an interactive webpage - and it does not require any coding or web design experience to use. This tool is not cost free, but it is available to UD faculty and students and the platform we recommend for classes that are developing StoryMaps as a key part of their coursework.

This is the recommended platform for classroom projects. Contact Liz Grauel for information about access.
