Best Practices for Documents

  • Use built-in features like headings and lists to structure your document.
  • Include alternative text descriptions for images.
  • Do not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Check your document for color contrast issues.
  • Use simple and clear language for better readability.
  • Embed hyperlinks with easy-to-read descriptions.
  • Consider other alternatives to PDFs for sharing content (like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, websites, etc.). It can be challenging to fix accessibility issues of PDFs.
  • Consider other alternatives to tables if you are using them strictly for design purposes. Tables are not always supported with accessibility.
  • If creating tables, include table headers.
  • Use accessibility checking tools for documents.
