Rhetorical Analysis


To notice and describe the style, genre features, and audience of a medical or scientific article; to learn how to read these articles efficiently and effectively.


Your teacher and classmates, or any other student looking for an example of how to decode a med/sci article.


General Instructions:

  1. Use the UD library databases to find a peer-reviewed research article relevant to your work. 
  2. Write down some thoughts on who this article is written for and the authors' goals in writing it.
  3. Read the article carefully, noting any features of the genre.
  4. Write an essay in which you discuss the purpose and audience of the article. Make sure to also discuss at least 3 specific genre features and write about how they support the authors’ goals.


Due on Isidore by noon on Friday, September 17th.
