CJS 207

Introduction

Welcome to the University of Dayton Libraries' guide to CJS207: Research Methods in CJS

If you've got questions about finding, evaluating, or using information for your research assignment, you can email me any time, or schedule an appointment for individual consultation. I am happy to work with you!

Learning Outcomes for our class time together:

1. You will be able to identify the basics of how databases work and the impact that has on your ability to find articles

2. You will be able to apply effective components of a database search strategy, including facets, Boolean operators, and filters, in order to search more effectively and efficiently

3. You will be able to adjust your search scope to find articles that develop your understanding of the topic of interest for your research question

These are in support of developing the ability to choose appropriate information sources and types for your needs, and to develop habits and practices of critical curiosity to engage fully in the research process.
