Although the Fair Housing Act of 1968 prohibited housing discrimination and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act of 1975 required the release of lending data, the legacies of redlining and the realities of housing discrimination persist. Today, for example, potential home owners who identify as LGBTQ face discrimination in lending and housing. African Americans still have lower rates of wealth, lower income, and often live in neighborhoods that are under-resourced.
