Boolean Operators

Boolean operators are AND, OR, and NOT. These are the terms that we will use to string our keywords together in order to make an effective search string.

AND - narrows the search (museums AND education AND inclusion)

OR - broadens the search (museums OR art galleries OR visual resources collections)

NOT - narrows the search (education NOT adult NOT higher education NOT continuing education)

More tips

Wildcard (*) will return results that include alternative forms of a root word, for example, child* would return results for child, children, childhood, etc.

“Exact phrase” (using quotes around two or more words) will return results with words in that exact order, for example, “art museum” would only return results that include the phrase "art museum"
