E-Books at the University of Dayton

How to find and access e-books (and print books) at the University of Dayton.

Finding E-Books (and Print Books) at the University of Dayton

The easiest way to find e-books and print books at the University of Dayton is to search in our library catalog (see search box below). For e-books, using the catalog allows you to search across all our e-book collections at once. If, on the other hand, you are not looking for such a broad search, you can explore our discipline-specific collections of e-books for the following areas: arts and humanities, STEM and biomedicine, or social sciences and business. If you need help browsing our print collections in person, please refer to our overview of call numbers and floors for more info.

Catalog Search Tips (for E-Books)

  • If you want to limit your search to only e-books in the catalog, then it's best to begin your search from the Advanced Search page of the catalog. Under the "Material Type" section, select the "Electronic Book" option, as pictured here:

  • Once you've entered your search, you can confirm that an item is an e-book by the following icon:

  • Within the record for an individual e-book, the full text can be accessed by selecting the link towards the center of the screen that is labelled something along the lines of "Connect to resource online." The following screenshot highlights this type of link. Also highlighted is the e-book icon mentioned in the previous bullet point.
